Sorry for not replying to the earlier request. This format - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Metafile is something that is Windows specific. Here I really have very little knowledge or ways to test things. It looks like something that pdf or svg. And the dates on the wikipedia page indicate that it was done in the early 90s.

What application uses this? And will they not take in pdf?

I generally work with windows word 2016. I cannot import datagraph eps or pdf as pictures without having "can't display photo" errors.

I looked into this, and found the reference document from Microsoft

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc230514.aspx

That is quite some reading, and would be a huge effort to implement. I will see if there is a converter available, or what I have to do to get just what I need. But at a glance it looks like something that is pretty involved, and I haven't gotten a lot of requests for this.

It is frustrating that Microsoft doesn't support PDF or SVG.

Here is a way to convert SVG files to EMF

Thanks I will look into it. Currently i am sticking with PDF export and importing into MAC word 2016. It seems to work fine. I have no idea why microsoft cannot maintain a standard file importation for all flavours of operating systems.
