Greetings,

I have a bit of an unusual question, but I'm wondering if anyone has more experience with distribution modeling than I do. I do research on organic semiconductor thin films, and when I scan samples, I create a histogram of energies at every site on the surface.

For most samples, the histogram/energy distribution starts out very asymmetric then progresses to a more Gaussian distribution. So, what I'm looking for is essentially a measure of "Gaussian-ness" so that I can give a quantitative measure of how asymmetric a sample starts out compared to the asymmetry when I'm finished scanning.

I have a feeling I'm looking for something like a chi-squared measure, and I've also had a "moment" analysis suggested. Has anyone used the chi-squared measure within data graph? Also, does anyone have a suggestion of a reference to explain what a "good" chi-squared value is for a Gaussian distribution?

Thanks!
