When using the Import special sometimes DG asks me if it should replace existing columns. This however doesn't happen all the time.

How can I trigger this behaviour?
And how can I append newly imported tables to existing tables? (cut and paste is difficult as the dataset is rather large)

If nothing is selected in the data table the columns are added as new columns to the end of the table.

If you select columns in the table (highlight them) first the import overwrites those columns and then adds any new columns.

If you select rows in the table the import overwrites those rows and then adds rows after the last selected row. In particular, if you select the last row (empty) then the content will be appended.
When you are appending rows and it is not completely clear that the columns match you get a dialog box that allows you to specify what column goes where.
