|
|
Hi,
I am doing a linear fit with some data that, according to the laws of physics, should start at x=0,f(x)=0. So the function should be something like f(x)=a*x. Is there a way to do that?
Cheers from Germany
Stephan

I did not get to use your software much since I registered, but I really like it. It does not just work, it suprises with those little things one never thought of that make work easier and more fun. Thanks. |

Thanks.
There are two ways of doing the fit you want.
Specify the "Sum" fit and only type in "x". That will only use that function for the fit. So if you want an odd polynomial of degree 5, you could specify x,x^3,x^5. If it should be odd around 1, use (x-1),(x-1)^3,(x-1)^5 etc.
Another way is to use the arbitrary function fit, where you just type in the function "a*x" directly. "a" becomes a fitting parameter (unless you specify it as a variable). That gives you more flexibility.
